It's finally Spring! For me it felt like the winter was never-ending.  Even now the wind is cold coming off the snowy mountains but I am relishing in the sunshine!  All this Vitamin D has me excited about the Spring Trends in Makeup happening right now.

The great thing about these 5 trends is that ANYONE can do them - they're not far fetched or crazy avant-garde that you'd be afraid to wear to work or your in-laws.

1. Pastel Nail Polish
Soft colors that border between a pastel and a nude are on every runway so far in 2017.  One of our favorite collections has been from Deborah Lippmann with the perfect shades of peach, mauve and almond that are for every skintone.  This nail polish even won an award for the healthiest nail polish!

2. Cream Blush
Rosy cheeks are all the rage! The minamilist makeup is back, thank goodness the contouring thing is fading away! In its place is an easy one step for color and dimension that flatters all skin tones - BLUSH! Cream blush specifically is so easy to apply, almost foolproof! With a hydrating base, cream blush adds to the healthy appearance of the skin instead of the powder blushes that can make your complexion look dull and lifeless. Highly pigmented Cream Blush is best applied with a loose brush and in circular motions across the apples of your cheeks and up towards your hairline (above the ear).

3. Matte Red Lipstick

Red lips are one of those makeup trends that will never ever go away.  We just change the way we use it. And the runways this year are showing us that Matte Red Lips are here for Spring.  It's a beautiful and dramatic way to add a pop of color without lots of work.  And the matte finish is a relief, no sticky glosses!  For those of you who are more brave, the grey-purple and metallic lipsticks are also hot items right now!

4. Eye Shadows
Small areas of shadow, not the full eye coverage we are used to is new this year.  Bright swipes of Cobalt Blue and Fushia are popular colors in makeup artist kits right now.  Using them as eyeliner in bold lines on both the top and bottom lids.  Not into those bright colors?  Pastels are also in high demand right now, especially when you can match your shadows to your mani.

5. Get your Glow on
Glowing skin is the epitome of natural beauty. Without layers of makeup and heavy contouring, natural looking skin is the perfect way to up your spring look.  Getting well hydrated, glowing skin that's almost glossy is actually pretty easy. Start with a deeply penetrating emollient based moisturizer, follow with a primer mixed with foundation to keep it sheer and apply with a damp sponge. Clean and Fresh, just like Spring!
